Simple tips for spring cleaning

With almost all of us spending much more time at home this year across Australia, you might have not gotten around just yet to your spring cleaning or a deep cleaning of your house (do not worry, we ‘re not going to tell anyone). With spring mostly in the air, now is the ideal time to get your home thoroughly cleaned and ready for the warmer months ahead. We share a few simple spring-cleaning tips in this article to brighten up your home.

Clean doormats
How often do you step onto your doormat? It is one of those things that we sometimes forget when we come and go rapidly from home, but doormats will accumulate a lot of dirt and grime. You could hose off and air-dry your doormats or vacuum dust and dirt from inside mats, depending on what your doormats are made from.

Clean windowsills and windows
Your windowsill and  windows can gather dust easily, particularly if you reside in the town’s high-traffic area. Try to open the blinds on all windows, and clean your windows with a glass cleaner, a microfibre cloth or some old newspaper. Wipe your windowsills with a damp rag, after you’ve washed your windows. Drop your shades or blinds and brush away any dust from these surfaces too.

Freshen your kitchen sink up
Every day, we wash dishes in our kitchen sinks, but what about also washing the sink? To scrub down your kitchen sink, use a mild detergent and a clean rag. For sluggish drains, try cleaning the drain in your kitchen sink using a professional cleaner like Drano.

Wipe down your refrigerator
Although you may still regularly clean the interior shelves in your refrigerator, you may not be given the opportunity to clean the door shelves and drawers as much as possible. Remove the door shelves carefully from your fridge and crisper drawer, and wash in warm, soapy water.

Clean the oven
If your oven has no self-cleaning feature, remove the racks and clean each in wet, soapy water. The oven door can be washed with a non-abrasive cloth and some wet, soapy water or glass cleaner while the shelves dry. Finally, thoroughly clean the interior of your oven with a soft cloth to remove any food and stubborn grime that might build up.

Yes, deep cleaning your home can be a major workout, but if you can relax in your freshened-up home space, the time spent attending to your home is worth it. If a deep clean home seems like too much to do in one day or weekend, you might choose a part of your home to start enjoying some of the advantages of a super clean home right now. What’s not to love?
