Layburn Speech & Language

Layburn Speech & Language is a quality service providing expertise in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of children's communication skills, and is a registered Medicare and NDIS Provider.

The Practice is owned and operated by Amber Layburn.  Amber has been lucky to pursue her passion - helping children achieve their communication goals - for over 20 years. She has grown up in the region, completing a Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours I) at the University of Newcastle and proudly receiving the University Medal, in addition to awards for academic achievement and clinical practice.

Layburn Speech & Language offers services for:
  • Early communication development and late talkers
  • Speech difficulties - including delayed speech development, lisps and motor planning disorders (including childhood apraxia of speech/developmental coordination disorder)
  • Early childhood stuttering
  • Language delays/disorders - including receptive (understanding language) and expressive (using language) difficulties
  • Phonological awareness - building the foundations for literacy
  • Difficulties with spelling, writing and reading comprehension
  • Social communication skills - developing social skills for effective communication
  • The communication needs of children with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities
